2 month check-up

Riley had a great check-up today. The fluid was gone from her ears (yay!) and our pediatrician started her on some reflux medicine. She weighed 10lbs 14oz (50%) and was 23.25in (90%)--so I guess she's going to be like her Daddy! I was pleased that she gained 2lbs this past month, especially since she had surgery 3 weeks ago! She did get 3 shots and has been a little fussy, but we're so thankful for the great report!

Yipee for a good report. And shots are no fun. I usually end up crying with my babies when they get them.

Sounds like she's doing great!

As for the three hour naps...it is very rare for him to sleep that long. I think he was still trying to recover from vacation! His typical nap is 1.5-2 hours so anything over 2 hours is always exciting-ha!

Hi Nola! You left a comment on my blog on June 11 and I apologize for not getting back to you sooner. It has been a very tough few weeks for us, as Gavin had his surgery on June 15, and my Mom passed away from an airplane accident on June 17. I haven't been up to blogging since then because I am really struggling over the loss of my mother. :( But I decided to try to do some blogging today since I think it may be therapeutic for me.

My son, Gavin, had an incomplete unilateral cleft lip, but his palate was intact. It was almost complete with the exception of the "Simon Arts band." You had mentioned your difficulty with bottle-feeding as well. We have finally had success with The First Years Breastflow bottles. They are very similar to a mother's breast and require the same suction/compression motion used in breastfeeding. We rarely use the bottle (with pumped breastmilk) since I primarily breastfeed. But once I return to work in August, I will be pumping so my husband can feed Gav during the day.

Congrats on the great check-up! Both Sawyer and Riley are absolutely adorable! I am looking forward to following Riley's journey. It's so nice to gain some new cleft friends. Thanks for contacting me! :o)
